Please visit the Members Portal for joining details.

The Family History Show Online

It has come to our notice that publicity for The Family History Show Online says that Bedfordshire Family History Society will be exhibitors. To clarify, this only means that Genfair will be including our ‘stall’ of goods for sale in theirs. You can buy the same things directly through Genfair without buying a ticket for The Family History Show Online. You can also buy them through Parish Chest or directly from us (see “Society Information” – “Bookstall” – “Publications List”).

Temporary change of BFHS address during the Coronavirus crisis.

We cannot collect mail addressed to our PO Box because the Bedford collection point is closed. We understand that in the present circumstances Royal Mail has to treat the BFHS PO Box as a low priority. For the time being, any postal correspondence including orders by post should be addressed to:

BFHS, c/o Mr Noel Evans, 14 Beaulieu Way, Bedford. MK41 8NP

If you have sent your membership form and payment or CD order to the PO Box you might like to send a new cheque and form to Noel Evans. We will take care not to present both cheques. Please also note that we are now able to post books and overseas orders again.

Update on Members Portal - June 2020

Funeral Directors Records (as at 24th June 2020)

We continue to work on indexing the Funeral Directors Records for Bedfordshire. To date we have completed three ledgers of T & E Neville Ltd. They are January 1905 to December 1913. We are pleased that we have been able to add images of all the ledgers indexed so far. The originals may be viewed in the Bedfordshire Records Office. There references are X843/16/1, X843/16/2 and X843/16/3. You can also view the 19 other ledgers which go up to 1955.

If you are a member and have not had a look at our members only page then go to the Members Portal button and fill in the request form. A username and password will be sent to you. You will require your membership number and email address. If you are not a member but think you may enjoy the journals or find the Funeral Directors Records of interest or have a look at the other items then why not join us, To do this click on ‘Society Information/Membership.'
